What this lesson teaches

The letters i and t both start with the undercurve swing you practiced in lesson 1.

For i: swing up to the midline, pull straight down to the baseline, and exit with another swing. Dot the i just above the midline.

For t: the same shape, but the stem rises above the midline. Cross the t at the midline after you finish the word.

What is on the sheet

  1. The Letter i
    iii
Write three joined letters i, exactly as in the model. Keep the strokes connected and dot each i last.
  2. The Letter t
    ttt
Write three joined letters t. Make the stems taller than the midline and add the crossbars after finishing all three.
  3. First Word: it
    it
Join i and t into your first cursive word. Write the whole word without lifting the pen, then dot and cross.
  4. Word: tit
    tit
Three letters in a row now. Focus on keeping the two t-stems parallel and the joins smooth.

How to use it

Print at 100% on US Letter — not “fit to page”. The ruling is classroom size, and scaling the page down makes every letter the wrong size. The 10 cm scale at the foot of the sheet is there to check against: if it measures short, the print was scaled.

The sheet holds 4 exercises, each with a model row in full ink, a pale row to trace over, and two empty ruled rows of your own.
